Elder Michael R Emmett - Colorado Denver South
WOW. There is some excitement at the Irvine Emmett household tonight. This afternoon at about 3:00, Kristin paged me on our intercom and said, "the mail is here and it looks like there is a big white envelope." I was out the door in a flash and sure enough a big white envelope addressed to 'Elder Michael Robert Emmett' was there. I text'd a message to Michael and John to let them know it was here. Then I carefully opened the envelope and pulled the top page out and without looking at it I placed it on the fax machine and sent a copy to John at his office in Provo. On John's end he had a friend at work grab the fax and seal it in an envelope. With the mission call still unknown, John drove to Jim and Mary's to deliver it Michael. John, Amanda and Carly witnessed Michael open the call and attempt to read it aloud only to be overcome with emotion. Moments later Michael called home and read the call aloud to Annie, Kristin and me. Colorado Denver South. This mission covers the south side of the Denver Metro area and the northwest corner of Colorado. We are all very excited.
He will enter the MTC on June 27. Congratulations to Elder Mikey!!
Many of Michael's friends and family members submitted guesses as to where he would be called. Dan Corbin's Utah was close, but he was disqualified because he didn't name a specific mission and he doesn't offer the amount of ski swag as Tom does..... so Uncle Tom's Oklahoma, Oklahoma City is the official winner because like Utah, Oklahoma does border Colorado. The Ducks towel and a certificate for two bagels are on the way.
Annie and I couldn't be more excited or happy. Michael will be able to get involved in the work on his first day. The current plan is to have him speak at the Irvine 3rd Ward on June 17 when other family members are in town. The meeting starts at 9:00AM. All are welcome to attend.

Congratulations to Michael from a couple of proud and loving grandparents. We are sure this will be the right place for him to serve and know that he will do so with energy and dedication. We probably won't be able to make it to the farewell but look forward for to a detailed report.

Denver South! That's exciting. I wonder if they'll let you do some 'chairlift contacting' in the winter. Congratulations. You'll be a most excellent missionary.
ReplyDeleteNicely done Elder Mikey. You only do it once, make the most of it and work hard.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Mickey! I'm going to ask our missionaries on Sun. if our ward is part of the south or north mission. Your energetic and positive attitude will be greatly appreciated out here.
