I remember a day at Alta with my friend Greg from NoCal tagging along behind his guide, YPR, wondering what he had gotten himself into when he had to grab hold of the guide wire screwed into the rocks with one hand and carry his skis with the other. I've found the hike back to the car goes much better if you have one last Dr Pepper and a couple of Pat Hugie cookies and some Norda Emmett banana bread (w/ cheese) stashed in a pocket. Happy Birthday Tommy D.
Tom, I celebrated your birthday by eating tastey birthday cake for a fellow 17th of Decemberer--Walter Whipple--the service couple/organist at the BYU Jerusaelm Center. He plays the organ better than you but you got him beat at skiing. Happy Birthday.
Truely good times have been found on the ski hill following my sister and brothers. All great examples in my life and all to blame for my winter addiction. If I ever grow up I would like to be like any of you. Thanks....
And as I recall, the hike back to the valley really wasn't that bad. The hike back up to the car was a bit tedious however.
ReplyDeleteMay Tom continue the adventure undaunted for years to come.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how the good memories stay with you and the bad ones seem to fade into oblivion. May all of Tom's memories be the good kind!
