Jackson Hole Reverie

For all those needing a mid-summer Jackson Hole fix, here are a few photos that might help:

Lorie scaling the gneiss wall at the foot of Teewinot.

A storm crossing the valley.

Lots of snowmelt coming down this year.

A plethora of Wyoming's state flower.

The next day we canoe into Leigh Lake for some relaxation.

A man, a lake, and a Dr. Pepper . . .

More storms moving in . . .

The following day it's a scenic float down the Snake . . .

. . . under the watchful eye of a bald eagle.

"Maybe if I keep my nose under water, they won't notice me."

We end the day with a beautiful hike to Phelps Lake. This was a serendipidous find as we had no idea that when Laurance Rockefeller donated the old family ranch to the park, it allowed for the creation of some wonderful trails up to the area around the lake where the ranch used to be. All buildings have been removed and there's nothing left to indicate that there had been a ranch there.

  1. It looks like a good time was had by all - sorry about that, Katie. Serves you right for staying home. Great pictures, too, and the comments were right on.

  3. I clicked on the comments link with the intent of expressing my pleasure about the picture titled, "a man, a lake, and a Dr. Pepper" but my wife had beat me too it. If she really likes it, maybe she'll let me get an 11" x 17" blowup picture of shirtless uncle Bill...

  4. I'm glad I could have the pleasure of having Katie and Izzy over at my house so that you could have an enjoyable vacation! Maybe we could get t-shirts with that shirtless picture on them!

  5. Ditto regarding the shirtless man but like they say, "If you've got it, flaunt it!" Excellent pictures, by the way.

  6. A man, a lake, and a Dr. Pepper...surprise...suprise. You should blow it up and hang it in your classroom since that is what you look like at school too minus the lake. Good picture though!
