HGTV needs to be blocked!!

It seems to me that someone around here is watching to much Home and Garden TV and not enough ESPN. All Annie wanted for Christmas this year was new flooring for the two upstairs bathrooms, hallway and new carpet on the stairs. I decided to get in on the action and redo my office bathroom. Out with the much maligned (well, at least bathroom carpet is maligned on HGTV) carpet in the bathrooms, the worn out carpet on the stairs and the glue down industrial carpet in my office bathroom along with my $300 pre-fab plastic shower. Also gone are the old counter tops, replaced by granite and the contractor mirror in the master bath replaced by a new mirror that ties in with the new counter top and flooring. Also out are the contractor Hollywood lights that were in all of the bathrooms. The master bath and the shop bath have new marble floors and the hallway and kid's bath have new hardwood floors. Both upstairs bathrooms received a fresh coat of butter/cream colored paint. I used the remnant of the two pre-fab counter tops in my office bathroom and I used the left over hardwood to install a hardwood floor in the linen closet. The new baseboard matches what we installed on the first floor for last year's Christmas. Annie and I are pretty happy with the way it turned out. Now that we have the house upgraded, we are ready to sell and maybe downsize as step one of our long term plan to retire to Utah. We wanted to send these photos to Michael and I thought the rest of you home decorators might enjoy taking a peek.

Michael's bedroom is looking less like Michael's room and more like a combo guest room and Annie's computer room.

Sister Lundberg and her sisters. Mary says she wants all of her daughters to follow Emily's example and serve a mission. I keep telling them they can wait until they are married and serve with their husbands.

Emily (with lots of luggage) prepares to enter the MTC. I tried to convince her we could go later in the day (according to Bruce Dickerson), but she would have nothing of it. She also guaranteed me she had not exceeded the luggage weight regulations. The MTC departure was a little harder on Emily's sisters than I thought it would be. Camilla and Carly broke down in to all out sobbing. As they tell you in the MTC, parting is easiest if you use the band-aid method. "The faster the better." As with everything else, Emily intended to follow the guidance to perfection so after a hug and "I love you" to each of us, she was the first missionary from our presentation group to go through the "missionary doors" and never looked back.

She will be a great missionary!

Because I have never figured out how to manage a posting on this blog, comments here will have to suffice. The chances are pretty good that she will have a lot of prayers offered in her behalf during the coming 18 months but some of us may worry about her a litle bit anyway.

Edit by Bob: Since dad made the closing comment in his post about prayers offered on behalf of Emily, I thought this might be a good spot to post Chad's email about Joel's prayers for the missionaries:

'The Springville Emmetts regularly pray for the cousin missionaries--especially Joel. Blessing the cousin missionaries by name is part of his bed time prayer ritual. For many months his prayer was for David (Tueller in Tennessee), Ben and Michael. It took some practice to then shift to just "Please bless Ben and Michael on their missions" when David returned home last November. Tonight as he was praying he said "please bless Ben and Michael..." then he stopped looked at me and asked "Is Emily on her mission now?" to which I responded "Yes" to which Joel then without a break said "...and Emily on their missions." Joel knew that Emily entered the MTC today but he had thought that she would go home to sleep since she lived so close to Provo. For the next few months (until Ben comes home) know that Joel is praying each night for "Ben, Michael and Emily on their missions." I am so grateful for the good example of cousins. Our children are growing up very aware that serving a mission is a good thing.'

New Years Baby

This year I helped host a New Years party with my friend Aubrey at her parents home. The theme was Masquerade Ball. The guest list exceed the RSVP list by over 50+ extra getting in making it close to 300 young single adults at the house. Just an AMAZING night!

It's a . . . .

Beth's ultrasound was this afternoon and everything looks great. The due date stayed the same, May 25th. Oh yeah and it's a girl.

Just an update, today was my first doctors appointment. (This time the picture IS mine. :) I went in at 8:30 & they couldn't find a heartbeat. The same thing happened with Polly, so I got to go get an ultra sound! Yay! I had to go back at 12:45 so that was a pain, but in the end worth it. The heartbeat showed up right away & I got lots of pictures to take home. So all is well, new due date is August 1st. That also happened with Polly. At first, I was told that I was 10 weeks & when I got the ultra sound, they said only 8 weeks. Anyway, who really knows when they are only 3 inches long?

Thanks to everyone for another great Christmas, it was a success as usual. We are always grateful to be there & were thrilled to be at Emily's farewell. One of the best talks I have EVER heard. In Lorin's words, "it was a total home-run!"

I am excited for January 4th to potentially hear from John & Beth after they go in for a gender check!!! Thanks again to everyone, especially my family for making the drive out & to Grandma & Grandpa for the hard work & never ending hospitality. Happy New Year!
